Believe it or not I'd never read this book before and thought I'd missed out on something because it's a classic... I hadn't!! It was very depressing and weird and not my cup of tea at all but I persevered. It's probably one of the first dystopia books written but it was all doom and gloom. Having said that it is very cleverly written and Orwell's description of futuristic events is amazing. From Thought Police, Big Brother, Ministry of Love, just to name a few, I'm sure glad his predictions didn't come to pass in reality... well not exactly!!!
